John1
One of the most heroic ships in the history of the US Navy has been located. The USS Johnson, DD-557, a Fletcher class destroyer who sacrificed herself in a charge into an oncoming Japanese battle fleet in an attempt to save the carriers she was assigned to escort was located today. She appears to be in remarkable shape. More than half of her crew went down with the ship. Truly a very special shipwreck.
