F-16 Aggressor

While flipping through YouTube today, I came across a few day old video of F-16's out at Nellis AFB for Red Flag 21.

1 F-16 in particular caught my eye, it was a blue aggressor bird. And it got me thinking, hence the post.

 

If someone wanted to build it, what kit is the best in 1/48 scale and what aftermarket goodies are available to make this jet look even more cool?

Hoping Pete Fleischmann and other F-16 experts will chime in.

From what little I know about 1/48 stuff, you can get a set of masks for the paint job from DN models. There are decals from TwoBobs, but not sure how readily available they are.

Tamiya F-16 Block 25/32 kit or the F-16 Aggressor boxing that includes some of the pods the Aggressor/Adversary jets carry.  This jet only seems to carry a couple of inert AIM-120B missiles that come with either kit together with the LAU-128 (?) launchers.

There’s also decals from afterburner, long out of production, but they pop up on eBay every so often. I got a set for about $80aud. I know that’s pretty pricey, but there’s about twenty sets of decals for different aggressor vipers! I’m looking forward to completing a shelf full of different aggressors.

I think I'm gonna get twobobs sheet and instead model "301".

Also found that Hataka makes an aggressor paint set.

I've never used Hataka paints, so I have no idea how good or bad they are.

I'll have to snag the mask set from DN models. (Thanks Stokeypete)

Hatakas lacquer paints are lovely to use and give a nice and smooth finish. I don’t like their acrylic line as much, found them inconsistent to spray with. One mix would be fine, the next would clog up the tip of my airbrush and dry too quickly.
