Padubon
Hello, I was planning to skip this GB to focus on the Navy GB but I could not resist the temptation. I am going to build Lothar Von Richthofen’s Dr.1, using Meng’s kit. Comments, suggestions, advice, etc, are welcome. Enjoy! Fist thing to do: straightening the wings and get rid of the oversized rib/stitch detail, which took about two hours. Before: After: After the wings, I started the cockpit. Knock on wood but so far so good for two nights of work on the kit. Out2gtcha
Awesome! I've got this kit on my bench rn actually. After some research on what is most assuredly a WnW engineering project, I personally found their nail lines ok after looking at the 1:1, I just deleted everything ahead of the ply leading edges. I also did this, as I was going to be using Aviatic decals and planned on them dulling the nail head effect a tad. Once you start getting into the air frame assembly, you'll start to find the fit MOST excellent. Derek B

Padubon
Last night’s work: On the control surfaces, I drilled a little hole on the horns to be able to do the control cables better. Ok, I hope I don’t hurt anyone’s feelings but I think the Dr.1 is one of the ugliest airplanes ever manufactured! Again, my opinion. Gazzas
Heh, Heh... I always considered the Dr.I a pretty attractive machine... though certainly nowhere near as eye pleasing as the Albatros fighters. Keep up the good work!

Artoor_k was asking about the same thing. I posted up my method for review over in his Fokker dr1 thread. If you’re interested i can post it here or you can check it out in his thread. You can see the finished look in my dreidecker sig link to see if this is the type of streaking you’re looking for. Trying to do it on a model was definitely tough but super fun to experiment with!
