D.B. Andrus
Can anyone recommend a source, besides internet search, for accurate drawings of the Fairey Barracuda? The high-shoulder wing and long greenhouse has always caught my eye. Thanks in Advance, Damian Derek B
Dpgsbody55
If you can get hold of a copy of "Wings of the Navy" by Capt. Eric Brown (ISBN 0 906393 87 6), you'll find a lot of information and the drawing you're after in this wonderful book. Do yourself a favour and go for a copy in "very good" or "Fine" condition. RLWP
A gratuitous picture of Maureen Dunlop and a Fairey Barracuda: Richard You're fortunate it wasn't 'Summer Fun' by the Barracudas. Plymouth Baccaruda indeed... Derek B, Uncarina and D.B. Andrus 2
RLWP
Checking Scalemates, there are also: Air Profile 240: https://www.kingkit.co.uk/product/profiles-books-AIRCRAFTPROFILES-240-fairey-barracuda-mks-i-v Warpaint 35: https://www.bookworldws.co.uk/product/warpaint-35-fairey-barracuda/ Orange Series: http://mmpbooks.biz/ksiazki/337 I don't own any of these, I cannot vouch for the contents. I'd buy them, they're not expensive - apart from the Orange Series one which seems unobtainable I'd buy 'Wings of the Navy' just for Winkle Brown! Richard D.B. Oldbaldguy
Whenever I see a photo of one of these things, two things pop to mind. First is, “Why????”, and the second is a Plymouth commercial (the American auto company Plymouth marketed a sporty little muscle car called the Plymouth Barracuda for a while) from many years ago in which one if the characters insists on calling the car a “Baccaruda.” I’m not sure this airplane is worthy even of that. ninjrk
The Orange series one is probably your best bet, many detail and interior photos and the drawings are much more detailed than the others. The Warpaint book does have less detailed drawings but gives you four fuselage cross-stations. D.B. Andrus and Derek B 1
ninjrk
The May 1999 issue of Scale Aviation Modeler also has a good article with a few pages of color profiles and some drawings. Derek B and D.B. Andrus 1
