olgerd83
Hi everyone, I decided to join this GB with quite old model from Italeri Pilot will Francesco Baracca, 1917, just because I'm a huge Ferrari fan and, based on one of the theories Enzo Ferrari chose his symbol - horse, for a new company. No progress so far, just a kit photos Edited March 29, 2021 by olgerd83 BradG, blackbetty, mpk and 7 others

olgerd83
let's start build from a small kit review. Actually it's an old Academy kit with new decals, thus it doesn't have a lot of details and very poor. - wings are not too bad, ribs should be sanded a bit - as I said interior is very poor, I do not have square plastic to make interior ribs, so I will need to wait with it and order -wheels are not correct - on Ni.17 there were no stitching on covers (as far as I know), also they should be sanded - yes both interior sides should be sanded)) - very nice decals though, for a lot of different options - kit has a wire - so nice of you, Academy/Italeri, but it should go to a garbage bin))) KiwiZac, Landrotten Highlander, MikeC and 3 others 5
olgerd83
- I started from the engine, removed plastic spark plugs and made new ones using Vectrocut's nuts, needle pieces (0.5mm diameter) and cooper wires - painted in black as a primer and covered with aluminium on top of it, spark plugs in white and used brow wash in the end. When everything was dry I added spark plug wires - exhaust was painted in cooper - seat doesn't look as original, firstly I thought about making a new from a plastic sheet, then just decided to drill some holes. Anyway inside a cockpit with seat-belts the difference will not be noticeable to be continued.... olgerd83
- engine is completed - with the cowling inside fuselage parts should be sanded - I did so and decided to do some wood line imitation, they will be sanded a bit and painted To be continued... coogrfan, Leaning_Dog, KiwiZac and 7 others

Out2gtcha
Looks excellent! If you are ever interested in dramatically speeding up oil paint drying times, Ive found thinning them with "Japan Drier" takes drying time from days to hours. Looking forward to more! RLWP
Just a quick one, The copper pipes are the air manifolds into the cylinders. Rotary engines don't have exhausts, the gasses come straight out of the cylinders. On the extreme left cylinder you can see the inlet pipe connecting to the top of the cylinder, and the exhaust valve just below it The air for the engine comes in through the tubes at the side of the cockpit, through the carburettor on the back of the engine then out to the cylinder through those tubes I've built this kit, and I think it's a pretty good representation of a Nie 17. Panzerwomble
That's coming on nicely , those are wicked ejector pin marks on the interior . Amazing anyone in QA would consider that a pass these days

Ok, let's proceed with model: - seat was painted in wood as well, also I decided to make pillow and to add PE seat belts - added straps on pedals, made a tachometer and put decal on it, also made a pulsometer - made an ammo box, air intake tubes and a machine gun mount - but all those additions will be barely visible to be continued ....
