ivanmoe
So, I'm noticing that the label on MRP clearcoats is the same as the maker's other, pre-mixed lacquers. Question... Is it safe to apply MRP's clear-coat varnishes over microscale decals? Don't want to destroy the markings trying to protect them. -Moe

I will be using Tamiya decals though. ivanmoe

nmayhew
i have applied them over various decals with no ill-effects but I have been careful to not flood the surface, and have built up coverage. i have not applied a 'wet coat' over them. suggest trying on a mule?? ivanmoe and AlbertD

I sprayed it over Zero Paints lacquer and the clear coat went hazy. It may have been my fault for not letting the color coat dry enough. I gave it 24 hours. If that was not the issue I don't know what to say about it. It may have been my technique too. I sprayed a couple of light coats to give it something to hold on to then went with a heavier coat to give it its gloss. I've ended up stripping the paint on the parts and will give it another go but maybe with a different clear coat. BTW this is on a 1/12 motorcycle kit. Woody V
Decals are lacquer. MRP paints are lacquer. A match made in heaven.
