Uncarina
Thanks to the great suggestion from Maru, let's start an LSP engines thread. After the cockpit, it's my next stop for modeling bliss! I'll start with these: ZM He-219: ZM Ki-45 Toryu: ZM HO-229 Horten: Tamiya F4U-1D Corsair: Hasegawa N1K2 Shiden-Kai: Let's see what you have! Dpgsbody55
Rolls Royce Merlin from the Tamiya Spitfire MkXVI kit: Rolls Royce Derwent jet engine from the HKM Gloster Meteor MkIV. The engine is actually aftermarket Profimodeler for the HKM Meteor. Allison V-1710 from the Kitty Hawk P-39 kit (together with moth of the other innards - it was the best picture I have of this engine!) Napier Sabre, from the Airfix Hawker Typhoon. Royboy
It just shows that everyone gets something from this wonderful hobby of ours! Some modellers are terrified of such detailing, whilst others absolutely lap it all up. Me, well I'm some way inbetween, if it shows I'll do it. Otherwise, it goes to the spares box for another day! Great work here, very inspiring. turbo, Uncarina and mpk

Uncarina
Michael, Don, your engines look awesome! With three of my current and upcoming build subjects powered by Merlins, I saved your work for reference. Thanks for posting! Cheers, Tom
Rick K
Nakajima NK1C Sakae 12 from TAM A6M2b This build A6M2N is TAM A6M2b using MDC A6M2N Rufe conversion. Also my first build 2012 returning to this hobby after >30 year hiatus. I look at it now and I'm tempted to strip paint off for repaint. My skill-sets have trended since this effort. Uncarina
Rick, That is a great engine in its own right, but being the first after a 30 year hiatus it is excellent! Cheers, Tom Rick K

monthebiff
Cool thread Tom, I've got to say I really hate building and painting engines and leave it as long as possible before doing the work, here are a few from my last builds. Uncarina
John and Andy, those engines look exquisite! Andy, those are some great WWI engines, and that silver patina on the cowling of your second photo really looks the part! Cheers, Tom

turbo
Great engines all! Thanks Tom for starting the thread and Maru for the suggestion - engines and cockpits can really be little models within a model! Here's my R-2800 Double Wasp from Tamiya's magnificent F4U-1A kit.
