washi tape cheaper then tamiya tape

Recommended Posts

I posted about this a few weeks ago in my F6F in-flight build. Washi Tape is Japanese masking tape. It's made with Rice Paper vice wood pulp like the US and elsewhere. Tamiya tape is plain ol' Washi Tape.  It's getting pretty popular in the crafting world, to the point that I've even seen it in Target's craft section.  IMHO the ones with the designs tend to be a bit more brittle than the solid colors, but all behave just like the Tamiya tape...

This is good stuff! I need to order more, since I’m down to my last roll. I still use Tamiya tape for clear parts, and the Washi tape for almost everything else. If you cut it into thin strips (1-2 mm wide), you can get it to bend around smallish curves very well.
