Hawkwrench Posted January 1, 2021 Share Posted January 1, 2021 While scratchbuilding an antenna mount for my MH-60L, I had to do alot of sanding to square it up. Bob MDC Posted January 1, 2021 Share Posted January 1, 2021 I used the NWS for a bit but upgraded it to the Dspiae http://www.dspiae.com/en/a/PRODUCTS/PRODUCTSB/64.html It comes in at about £50 UK but machined aluminium vs MDF and the sanders on a slide with self adhesive abrasives it is the "doggies doodas" I don't think I can saw bollocks ! But to be fair to North West Shoreline they were the first and the best for many years. As we are on the subject I have used the NWS "Chopper 2" for years and I thought the new RP toolz would be an improvement the jury's still out on that one ,the NSW is the journeyman using single edge razor blades and can tackle most jobs the RP toolz is a bit more "swiss" really only more delicate jobs for the detailed stuff again a real quality tool machined aluminium. Subodai Posted January 1, 2021 Share Posted January 1, 2021 I grab my dspiae stuff from HM Hobbies, that items listed here They're a partner of Meng, so sometimes you'll see items branded as Meng, other times as Dspiae, just grab whichever is cheapest as there appears to be little difference between the two in reality. I think the perfect tool for squaring up ends of plastic strip/rod and tubes as well as brass and aluminum tube stock is a jewelers miter jig. Unfortunately, Micro Mark no longer carries the smaller version shown below in the video. Uschi used to sell one but it is not in the line up because of CoVid. Eventually, once manufactures come back online, it will be available again. I have provided two links to sellers offering the tool at this time.
