WheelsUp
Does anyone know of a source for 1:32 USAF F-4C Vietnam era camouflage panel decals? I have the AOA 32-031 set but the decals for things like the wing pylons are yellow instead of black, this appears to be in keeping with the non-camouflage variants for Navy and Marine aircraft. Thanks, John
Kagemusha
Not sure if they're applicable, but Procal have released a set of black stencils for Greek Phantoms, though the stencils are probably in English.
WheelsUp
All of the Sprue Brothers decal sets include the AOA 32-031 panel set which is what I already have. I’m still looking for the Procal set but it looks like they’re only on Facebook which I don’t use. I’m hoping to find a web site for them otherwise I will see if I can contact them via email if I can find an email address for them. Thank you both, John
WheelsUp
I found their email and sent them a message. We’ll see how it goes!
ziggyfoos
Speed Hunter Graphics does the USAF F-4 stencil/panel markings in 1/32, both early and late. The AOA ones are USN/USMC, it is for reworked airframes starting mid 60s-ish into early 70s (painted stencil). Zotz made the original McD factory type. Here are the SHG USAF ones: https://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/rapsh32013.htm https://store.spruebrothers.com/product_p/rapsh32010.htm Edited December 13, 2020 by ziggyfoos Links phasephantomphixer and LSP_K2
WheelsUp
Excellent, thank you very much. It’s difficult to tell which set includes decals for the pylons, I will send them an email to verify. Thank you again! John
allthumbs
Hi John, You mention F-4C Vietnam era markings. Speed Hunter Graphics' "Early Phantom Stencils" is excellent, but it's mostly applicable to post Vietnam War era Phantoms (circa 1973 to 1979), as characterized by the contrasting black and white data. With a small number of late war exceptions, USAF Phantoms that operated in Southeast Asia had all black data topside and gray FS16307 data on the belly. Fundekals' forthcoming "Operation Bolo" decal sheet will have this style data and panel numbers including, it appears, wing pylon markings. See discussion about this here. IsraDecal sheet IAF-39, although intended for the F-4E, is another alternative...if you can find it. It has the appropriate black (top) and gray (bottom) markings, including panel numbers. Like the SHG and AOA sheets, it is comprehensive with excellent production quality. Here are some pictures from my set... WheelsUp
All thumbs, Wow, that’s exactly what I need, I’ll have to see if I can find them on-line. Thank you very much! John
WheelsUp
Well, That didn’t take long, I couldn’t find them anywhere on-line. Not too surprising I guess. Thank you again, I think I’m too late in the F-4 game to benefit from all these older now discontinued products. John
jmel
The Speed Hunter Graphics stencils are in stock and ready to ship tomorrow. https://www.reidairpublishing.com/speed-hunter-graphics-132-decals/big-scale-early-phantom-stencils As mentioned, though, they are mostly for post-Vietnam jets. Vietnam jets' stencils were mainly in black and in a different font than post-war. I really don't know, Anthony. I'd be afraid to even venture a guess. I just have no idea. Jake Anthony in NZ
LSP_Ray
Didn't the Brits convert the stencils to proper British English? Anthony in NZ and thierry laurent
