F-4J VMFA-115 "Silver Eagle" - 1/32 Tamiya - FINISHED

Good evening guys. I show you the modification of the rudder: the Tamiya kit has the rudder not separated from the centreboard and as I like to mount the rudder in a "skid" way, I separated it from the centreboard. I then added some plasticard and mounted. I hope you enjoy the job. See you at the next step.:D

How did I miss this! I just caught up with your splendid work. I don’t usually say “wow!” out loud when I read but when I saw your cockpit photo I certainly did! One of the best I’ve seen for the Phantom. Not sure if you know this, but there’s a thread in the LSP Discussion forum entitled “LSP cockpits”. I bet a lot of people would love to see your cockpit posted there. Just a humble suggestion!

Cheers,  Tom

Hi Cicciuzzo great job as so far ,I like the cockpit,no shure about the rudder too moved but anyway I can wrong

The rudder "moved" in my opinion gives a touch of "movement" to the subject otherwise it would be too "static". There are many images on the network of F-4 with the rudder moved. ;)
Thanks for your comment:D

This is a awesome build! As everyone has said, the cockpit is incredible, the seats are perfect and I think the way you’ve moved the rudder adds to the visual interest of a kit. Looking forward to seeing more updates.

Hello friends, today I show you the latest update. I finally glued the two parts of the fuselage and it was quite complicated. In fact, the two parts, in the front area, did not match but in the end with the "good manners" I succeeded.

here is the final result

I widened the internal fuselage to match the coupling pins but in the end the wings unfortunately do not match very well leaving a nice gap that must be filled with plasticard and milliput

once glued the two parts of fuselage and wings I glued the radome: another disaster:BANGHEAD2:

the radome is undersized

then, armed with rasp files and other accessories, I solved the damage using cyanoacrylate :punk:

now it is necessary to engrave all the panels lost by sanding

when mounting the small plate in contact with the stop hook I saw that it is much shorter so I redid it in plasticard

the small air conditioning vents are long; reach the radome line and therefore need to be shortened

as a last work I created the inner parachute conduit with aluminum foil. The compartment will be open and then I will create the internal parachute with milliput

Well picciotti, see you at the next update

Thanks for your comments and advice that you will want to give me.

Very nice work, the older Tamiya kits don’t fit together like a modern one, but you’ve fixed the fit issues very nicely! With a light sand and a rescribe you’ll never know. I love the look of the parachute conduit, nice bit of scratch building as well!
