A combination of winter, pandemic, and being in the transitional zone of winding one job down and not quite yet starting the new one left me with more than the usual amount of time to devote to modeling. Looking back, it was about 8 weeks of work to do this one, but I may have spent close to 20 hours/week on it. Gazzas
Alex 2,748
Some RFI, in no particular order. These are better model photos than I've been able to take in the past (though still not great), mainly because my wife got a tripod to use with my DSLR, so now I have a tripod too... Alex 2,748
More After I was really, really sure that I had totally eradicated the seam down the middle of the radiator scoop, it REAPPEARED once the part had been sitting for a couple weeks. What are you gonna do? At least it's on the bottom of the model... mywifehatesmodels, Dragon, LSP_Kevin and 15 others

acarothers896 34
Beautiful build, Alex. The weathering is spot on considering the conditions on Iwo Jima. Kudos. Andy Alex

dodgem37 8,566
Great Show! Love this. Brings back my own memories. Catchy scheme. Great shot. Great angle. No second yellow fuselage stripe? Thank you. Sincerely, Mark Hartmann52 and Alex

I debated over that - the part in front of the tail wheel well is this separate piece that drops in behind the radiator outlet, inset a little bit inside the contour of the fuselage overall. And the instructions called for it to be all flat black. I wasn’t sure whether or not the yellow stripe would have been continued over it or not.

This may be the first LSP that I really feel satisfied with in terms of the final result. Certainly a significant improvement over the last one I did!

I am really getting into using pastels for weathering. The matte surface quality and infinite opportunities to keep adding, removing, and reworking them are ideal for this application IMO. The only downside is that the final surface is delicate. I am only handling this model by the wingtips - touching it anywhere else will begin to wear away the pastels, or add skin oil to the mix which makes them much less visible. Out2gtcha 36,393
Lovely! I really have always loved the black and yellow strips. Very similar to my commission Dixie Boy. Great finish and a real gem of a model! Alex
