Is there any aftermarket to fix Revells F-18s spine.

Got the kit I guess there are multiple issues but I want to fix the spine.

Not that I’ve heard.  To be honest, even with a new spine I wouldn’t build mine.

Yeah that’s not good but I did see a build online, I think you use 2 tubes of putty which makes no since.  I guess the trumpeter kit is the way to go

Let's see now........how does it build up?

 

Very complicated build sequence. 64 page instruction book.

 

Very detailed gear bays, but way over- engineered.

 

Parts don't fit, especially the whole fuselage assembly.

 

Spine was reworked, hope it looks ok when painted.

 

Cockpit is disappointing. IP sits too high.

 

Landing gear detailed but a nightmare, don't seem beefy enough too support the model.

 

Weapons way over- engineered.

 

Nice surface detail.

 

Decals, a very large  sheet, don't know how well they will work.

 

I will finish it, but I won't attempt another .

There is a wip on here where one of the guys actually finished it. If i remember right he ended up cutting several mm off the entire fuselage lengthwise to get it to fit. Do a search and decide if you want to get into it. DanDiego’s got the whole of it.

Thanks not sure why they engineered with so many sub assemblies.  I have the Trumpeter Su 27 and it’s much simpler.

Looks like Milliput is the answer here (other brands are also available! ).

I’ve seen a couple of build threads done through to completion, there's issues for sure but it sure looks great when completed, its a job all right but I doubt there’s an issue you cannot handle and end up with a very nice model when completed.

I’d like to see them release an F or G...and/or Redbox the Academy/kinetic legacy bug and market that in prices we can afford
