Revell Spitfire "technik"

Just saw this "new" boxing listed at a shop in Belgium.

172,60 Euro's for a rotating prop,sound and some lights !

That's 204 US $ !

Not worth the money if you ask me.

Adding a rotating prop and lights is'n that difficult.

The sound is ofcourse not so easy.

For those interested. Here's the link to the shop.

I've bought from them with excelent service.

As Dave says, Revell tried this on with their Junkers Ju-88 and the price was something like AUD$400+ which was well out of reach of this pensioner. I'm pretty sure they are not big sellers so I wonder why they bother.

Christmas and New Year's time.

A "perfect" gift to a modeller from a person that only looks at the box.

All of the Revel Tecknics kits are ridiculous prices, from where I'm sitting.  Why should adding a few pounds / dollars of components to a kit suddenly multiple its price by a factor of 3?  It is blatant profiteering on Revell's part. I know that the company has had its financial woes recently, but this is just plain greedy. Still, no-one's forcing us to buy the kits, I guess...

As an aside - I built the Tamiya 'action sound' Zero a few years back to entertain youngsters/families at shows - which it did a treat.

Great fun!

If Tamiya did an equivalent set with their 1:32 Spitfire IX - and a digitised Merlin soundtrack - I'd rip their metaphorical arm off for one!  :)

The Revell one does seem a little pricey, but I'm not keen on the base kit either...

Hi,

The guys making the special effects sets are located in Belgium:

https://www.magicscalemodeling.com/shop

You can compare the price of that 'all-inclusive' Revell Spitfire with the ones of the combinations directly sold by that very small company...

This will give you a better view of the Revell margin.
