Iain
Surface cracks on the previous section - fixed with a little solvent brushed over the surface: Remember - this is double skinned, with an interstitial honeycomb fill - so still very strong! Oh - and this arrived in the post today, by some strange and completely inexplicable co-incidence... Wall-to-wall detail shots: D'ya know what, I think this might be doable... bdthoresen
Nice work, Iain. I live in the flight path of NAS Jax, and these things, along with P-3’s, fly over the house multiple times a day. I like your work on this. Really shaping up nicely! Cheetah11
Hi Iain If you are doubting your dimensions the length of a standard 737-800 without the tail is 38,0m and 39,5m with the tail. Cheers Nick Iain
Iain
Hi Nick, The dimensions I have for the fuselage nose to rear tip, by the APU, is 38.08m? Iain
Trak-Tor
38 minutes ago, Iain said: Now - some more number crunching at lunch-time - if the dimensions I have are correct for the 737-800 fuselage I'm on track to be, maybe, 10mm short in length overall. To put that in perspective - that's less than 1%. Should I re-size a little and re-print, or leave as is? If that's a problem, just print a few thin (like 2mm) parts and put them between the large parts. You know what I mean, do you? Fantastic fun, Iain! Iain
Yes - that's also an easy possibility Juraj. Iain

Iain
OK - last nights' print off the print bed - and added to the 'tube' - I kinda have half a 737-800 fuselage now: Those *are* inches along the bottom of the scale, not cm... You can see where I've brushed solvent over some of the surface cracks. Have to say, the shape of the wing cross section/root looks very good. I do like this printer, it just beavers away in the background. I did 20 hours of 'modelling' overnight and this morning: whilst sleeping - and then doing the day job! Back soon, possibly... Cheetah11
Hi Iain, different sources, different dimensions, the nemesis of the modeler. Boeing FM gives the length as 124ft 9inches (38,25m) and round it to 38m. Cheers Nick Iain
thierry laurent
As far as the proportions look right, nobody is going to argue if a one meter kit like that is one centimeter too short. Iain and Rockie Yarwood

Marcin_Matejko
You build quite a large model . The desk will probably be too small to work and you will have to build this model in the garage Iain
GMK
Iain, Great work - it can get addictive, can’t it? The next challenge is to get into CAD proper. I started that in March this year, see here: https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/85631-scratchbuilt-bushmaster-pmv-4x4/ Longest print to date, for me, is 221 hours, 26 minutes, a shade under 10 days. Believe me, you’ll get there! Looking forward to seeing the wings take shape. Edited November 17, 2020 by GMK Derek B and Iain
Starfighter
Looking very good, Iain - as mentioned elsewhere, I am working on pretty much the same project in the background since quite some time. And on its 4-engined cousin... I just have no idea where to put it! Iain
Some more images of the latest test piece - ignore the cracks, all part of the learning curve with the material - and all sorted: Still after an absolutely definitive fuselage length figure before I decide on next steps... Happy modelling dreaming! Iain A-10LOADER, GMK, Landrotten Highlander and 20 others
