Great looking finish on the orange!
Did you have to do anything special to keep the tape from dulling your metal finish when you removed it(after painting the dayglo)? I’ve seen a ghost line from the tape edge left over on mine in the past and am wondering how to avoid it. Yours looks pristine.

The tape didn't affect the metal surface, because the metallic is vax based, however to have the day glow adhere, I had to remove the 'True Metal' with turpentine before painting.

I like the faded day-glo, it looks very authentic.  How did you do it?

Matt

Hi Matt. I painted the areas with a very light faded yellow. After that I sprayed Gunze's Fluorecent Orange where the shadows would be. Finally I used oils mostly Burnt Sienna to bring it all together. I was actually surprised  how easy it was to get the effect of weathered 'day glo' ;)

Thanks all for you encouraging comments!

I've decided to make a little addition to the build.

At least two of the Danish T-33's had Delmar equipment, DT-497 & DT-571

So, I've started scratch building the parts...

The two T-33's had yellow rudder to identify them as target planes.

While I was away at the hospital a fellow modeler and Pilot, Thomas Lundgren

was to supply me with these close up photos of the Del Mar Shooting Target...

I was able to spend some time at 'bench' and the red color of the target was corrected, but most importantly I was able to make a decal from the photos

he supplied.

Good to be back! Cheers: Kent

Beautiful work Kent!

One advice if I may: do not fully open the airbrakes as the kit is unfortunately wrong in that area. Note this is also the case of the Avionix resin set!

Actually, the full airframe brake wells had no ceiling. As on the F-80, you saw there a lot of hydraulic pipes, wires, hoses and connectors that were close to the front of the Allison J33 engine.

Very nice project. Such trainers are unfortunately not as popular as fighters.

Some of the photos I have of the described area...

I will try to make the brake wells as correct as possible, but maybe the solution is to display them as half open brakes...

I'm still spending a lot of time in the different wards at the hospital.

But I'm finally picking up speed, it has been a long journey...

The landing gear has been mounted, and a scratched access ladder.

The scratched flaps and some of the decals have been applied.
