LSP_K2
Interesting. I've seen the kill marks arranged two completely different ways. Perhaps two near identical Corsairs?

Perhaps two near identical Corsairs? Compared to the publicity photo this looks the way the kill markings were arranged. I doubt there were two identical Corsairs because this Corsair wasn’t a 214 aircraft and was only dressed up for the publicity photo when Boyington was between tours. Beautiful build! That actually makes sense to me, so thanks for that. Now I have to wonder why they didn't make them match each other. Not a big deal, really, but it is somewhat odd to me. simon417
simon417
Thanks for all the kind words everyone. The EagleCals set I used stated that the 86 Corsair was used for publicity photos but never actually flown by Boyington. The figure is the Ultracast Pappy Boyington figure, so that's historically accurate. Thanks again. LSP_K2

When viewing those kill marks, I wondered why some were backwards, so I googled and found photos of two different configurations. That seriously puzzled me, and I had no idea which version may have reflected the actual wartime configuration.
