Stevepd
Well having commented on the planning builds thread, I made an impulse eBay buy last night and managed to win one of these. Having never built or owned an F-18 kit, it was a bit of a punt. So now the research begins....... Out2gtcha
Looks good! I did fix it show it now shows the image. Hoping the research goes well! Stevepd
LSP_K2
As far as I know, they're excellent kits. Stevepd
Kagemusha
I saw that, was very tempted, but as I already have a Growler, and there was an LEM Su-7 up for auction - which I snagged - I passed, happy a fellow member got it. Flying Leathernecks have some goodies for the kit. LSP_K2 and Stevepd 1
Marcel111
It’s a great kit, I built that exact boxing some years ago. The one gripe I do have is that the intakes are of decreasing diameter towards the engine, which to my eye just looks immediately wrong. I suggest sourcing some resin replacements, eg Sierra Hotel or DMold. Cheers, Marcel Ryan and Stevepd
Squizzy 78
For research and reference material, I think the Daco- uncovering the f-a-18 a,b,c,d is the top book on the subject. There’s plenty of aftermarket for this beast, and I also agree with Marcel on the intakes, I’ve used the d mold set, and now they also make a replacement piece for the top of the ‘spine’ of the aircraft. Have fun with the build! Stevepd and Marcel111
LSP_Ron
It;s a nice kit to build. The intakes are a bit nasty fit wise but with a little grinding with a dremel they can be made to fit well.
Darren Howie
If you can find them Rhino did an outstanding set of intakes for the kit. Some people have had gear leg sagging problems. There is a wonderful set of brass gear legs from G factor id recommend as well. Lovely kit.. Stevepd
