mozart
I’m surprised the sleek lines of the Bf110 don’t figure in the list, it was a difficult decision for me to decide between it and the Rapide. Erwin

There are also so many others I like. But I voted for the Me 262 in the end. I'm rather surpiced you went for the Rapide. It doesn't look elegant to me. As I said earlier. We all look at a plane differently. Choosing only one is difficult. Bstarr3
Since this seems to be a contest for second place behind the Spitfire, I'll through down another vote for the Folgore Erwin

Designed before WW-2 and used in WW-2. Designed during WW-2 ,not used in WW-2. Not in terms of functionality. Just overall look. You can only name one ! For me... With you all the way brother! mpk
Spitfire Mk. 1. No contest. Most beautiful machine ever designed by man. That's not my opinion. Its just a fact, and you all know it. It doesn't matter how many suppositories Jennings posts. I'm joking of course. No I'm not. Yes I am. BarryWilliams
Beauty, elegance - that is the description of a Spitfire. I was going to say the me262 for designed during WW2 but that design started a year earlier in 1938 so it cannot count. mpk and Erwin

Radub
If we are taking strictly about "elegance", I think that the Fiat G-55 absolutely oozes it. That beauty looks fast standing! Now, if we were to talk about "cool", "fast", "hyped-up", "features in every documentary about WW2", I may mention others (I.A.R.80/81 anyone? ), but for sheer elegance, nothing beats that sleek and aerodynamic machine. Iain
Indeed - good call on the G-55 Radu - and yes to the I.A.R.80/81 family - they look like racing aeroplanes, with guns... Iain mpk and Erwin
Derek B
Elliptical wing shaped aircraft seem to be popular, so with that in mind, what about this one then? Interesting, if we were going for the most elegant Italian aircraft of WWII, I'd go for the Veltro automatically. mpk
