Dave Williams Posted October 1, 2020 Share Posted October 1, 2020 Would it have been A7V anyway? I thought Vought’s manufacturer letter was U, as in the F4U Corsair. Also, not sure that Vought had submitted six previous attack designs so that 7 would have been the next number for them. Anyway, I don’t think the design started until after they had swapped to the unified designation system sine the prototype didn’t fly until late 1965.
