I'm another Pucara fan and this is very exciting to see! 3D printing is such a boon to our hobby and it's wonderful to see it being used for projects like this.

this now is the more or less blank canvas i am going to work with

i left some of the panel lines, especially on the nacelles

The aircraft doesn't do much for me, but that is some seriously impressive modelling!

some more work. i used a riveting wheel for the surface, these are not very visible on painted aircraft

the white pieces are vinyl

some more plotter generated vinyl details. there are tiny louvers in some of these panels. i will open these with a micro chisel immedeately before painting - cuts have been made to see where and get all the openings uniform (or at least thats the plan)

Very nice! I would not wait too long before applying a coat of primer on top of the vinyl parts to avoid deformation.

i have had these vinyl parts on my builds for years and never had anything deformate, even months later....go figure

there are more details to do on the fuselage, but i decided to look into the canopy next

this is a pull straight from the 3D part. as you can see, it doesnt take the heat of the clear plastic well and caved in on the sides

so i filled the initial pull with carputty and will reconstruct the sides, the top of the master, due to being thicker, did not disort

here is the seperated new master. the clearpart had to be cut to get the putty out, so i did have one shot for this. the 3D part is not usable anymore

I had exactly the same issue when I tired this on my B-17. I ended up using the 3D printed part as a master (once smooth) and made a copy in hydrocal. I then vac formed over that and it seemed to come out well. No distortion, and you keep the master intact!

Nice work! Looks like with a bit of fettling you might have cracked it! Outstanding work on this project. Thanks for sharing, I am enjoying this immensely!
