I just discovered something I really don't like; no ability to edit posts, mine or any others.

Clicking the three dots in the top right corner of the post and choosing "Edit" option does work for me.
;)

I'm on my phone, so might be different on a pc, you just tap on the three small squares in the top bar of the post.

Yep, sure enough. Thanks, Andy, apparently I missed that somehow.

Hi @LSP_Kevin

Im wondering does the new version provide a dark theme?

I know on the other forum i travel to at the bottom i can switch theme. And in the admin panel some themes can be made available. Does the new version include a dark theme users can select?

I love the new setup... But its really eye burning white !! dark theme ftw

I figured it out.  I clicked my name in the upper right to get into my account settings.  The “Content View Behavior” had been reset to “take me to the beginning”.  I changed it to “take me to comments I haven’t read”, saved it, and it’s good now.

ah, i was wondering about that!

i'll have to change mine too

The weird thing is, my settings have been reset to “take me to the beginning”, too, but the behaviour I get is the same “take me to comments I haven’t read” that I've always had.

:hmmm:

Personally, I find the stats bar a nuisance and irritating - I don't want to know who got gold for the most posts in a thread etc., etc.,- but again, it's just me. If the majority likes it, fine - otherwise the upgrade makes for a very nice and clean appearance, picture posting from SmugMug tested and no problem at all. All in all :goodjob:

It was just mentioned elsewhere that image links need to be https now, and that http links don't work. It turns out that this is a setting we can toggle, so I've turned it off for now. I do encourage everyone to host their images on a secure https server though, as eventually, browsers themselves will stop display http-only content altogether.

Funny thing i was about to send you a PM the other day because i keept getting mixed content warning!

One of the main reasons that IPB did this in this release is that most browser are craking down on mixed content and it can result in the site been black listed or not loading.

So from what i understand this setting is for when you click ON the thread itself.( i.e if you click on the topic name) it will follow the "Content View Behavior" rule. In this forum software, if you click on the BLUE BUBBLE (or Star if you have already commented on the thread ) in front of the topic name it will take you to the "haven’t read"

There's really nothing I can do about the mixed content warnings, other than switch the linked content setting back to https-only - which I do intend to do after people have had some time to ensure their images are hosted on a secure server. The reprieve is only temporary, and all the well-known and popular image hosts provided SSL-based hosting, so it shouldn't be a problem for most people. Of course, this won't affect all the pre-existing non-secure links, but at least it will make things better going forward.

Ah, exactly! I'm not sure why I missed that distinction, but that's exactly it. I always use the 'blue bubble' to go to the first unread post in a thread, and this behaviour is not affected by the setting discussed earlier, which only affects what happens when you click on the topic name. Well spotted, Neo!
