Japanese Camouflage Stencils Made by Bugs

There is an interesting article in the latest Fine Scale Modeler magazine showing how to use the hole patterns in leaves chewed by insects for painting particular Japanese aircraft.  The hole patterns work very well for field applied, mottle/splotch camouflage. Green on aluminum is shown as an example.

I collected a large number of leaves  yesterday that are drying in a flower press of sorts.  They seem fragile so will paint them to give them some structure and try out the technique.
