Finn
This must have been a fun job hooking up the hold back cable on a Crusader: Jari Cheetah11 and USMC Herc
John1
Not just "NO", F-K NO!!! I'd rather have sat freezing in my foxhole watching it filling up with rain water vrs doing that job. I saw at least a dozen ways to lose a hand, leg and/or life. Crazy stuff. Edited September 3, 2020 by John1 USMC Herc and lawman56

davral64
Where's OSHA when you need them?
John1
18 hours ago, davral64 said: Where's OSHA when you need them? OSHA would immediately shut work down and fine the Navy a billion dollars for willful violations of every H&S standard in the CFR. At which point, the Navy would lawyer up, compromise with OSHA and agree to pay a $10 fine with no admission of guilt and promptly go back to shooting jets off the deck. Barry
The carrier deck, especially during flight ops is considered to be one of the most dangerous places one can earn a living! D.B. Andrus
Ben Brown
I have more headroom under my Miata when it’s up on jack stands than that kid hooking the holdback under F-8 does! Ben
lawman56
My sister spent a lot of time stationed aboard the JFK in the 90's. One thing she told me that always stuck, was the frequency in which flight deck crew either get injured, or disappear into the vastness of the ocean. I once inadvertently drove into a sandy area in Iraq full of undetonated cluster bomblets during Desert Storm. I'd rather do that again than what I just saw in that video. It was safer. davral64
I'm with you 100%. Civilians just don't have the slightest idea how dangerous most military jobs are and just how much responsibility is heaped on an 18 year old`s shoulders. Thank you for your service? Oh you have no idea my friend! John1, easixpedro and johncrow
