RadBaron
... An update! A big step. The fuselage is together! I've been working on the seams on the intakes and exhaust too. Now, the kit has substabtial locating pegs and holes to hold the intakes and exhaust in place, but of course they're all designed to be assembled at the same time, which makes cleanup a proper drag. The solution is to open up the locating holes to allow the assembled intakes and exhaust to slide into place later. Not to sort out the seams and surface details Thanks for looking! Thanks mate! Very cool! A break from the monotony is always a good thing

Rockie Yarwood
Beautiful work so far Denzil, and really like the scheme you are planning to use. Naive question, are those markings available, or will you be making your own? Cheers, Rockie RadBaron

Cheers, Rockie Cheers mate Yes, the scheme comes as a decal option in the kit, but lately, ive been relying more and more on cutting my own painting stencils, so there is a good chance I'll do that for this build. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it Rockie Yarwood

My workbench has been nothing but a long slog of filling and sanding sessions. One of these days im going to have a go of one of these new-fangled, good fitting kits... Until then, we push on. There's a lovely, almost intentionally sculpted, trench under the fuselage Of course, it's not there on the real thing: More filling and sanding. What little surface detail there was is now long gone! Lower fuselage sides have been reprofiled to make them a bit rounder, as per pics. Heavy filling done, now time to finesse I'm planning on sorting out the fuselage surface textures before mounting the wing, so preparation has begun for for that. The Hawk has rather pronounced raised rivets around the tail section. The kit supplies a rendition of this, if a bit heavy handed. Due to the nature of injection moulds, the top and underside surface detail is impossible to reproduce on a single part mould. Archer fine transfer rivets will be replacing all the kit supplied detail, so what is there has been removed. I'll be painting on the stiffener skins, using masking templates cut on the good old silhouette Cameo. Heres a rough outline of where they'll go. Also fitted is the speedbrake well, as it'll need smoothing in. The intakes are fighting hard to keep throwing up little pinholes. One more smear of filler.... And thats where we're at!
