Phantom2
Hi All! The gear doors primed with Alclad Grey Microfiller… The windscreen glued and masked…. After i had painted the interior color on the windscreen the MiG was primed with Alclad Black Microfiller… …and then I got sick and couldn`t build for almost two weeks, CRAP! I`m feeling better now and It´s fun to build again, but I will not meet the deadline! Please move this tread to the ”In the works”, Please. (If we can´t get an extension, that is...) Thanks! Phantom2
Hi all! I lost the interest in this kit and It became a shelf-sitter for some time, but now it´s time I´ll continue and get her done! Time to get some color on the MiG! A few spots had to be sanded, but nothing major... Then I painted the wings, stabs and nose cone with Wood (Hu.110)... ...and clearcoated with Alclad Clear Cote Gloss... ...and then I masked the wings and stabilizators with tape and plugged the nose... After searching around I found a good blue color, MRP-200 Su-33 Dark Blue, a Russian color! A really BLUE blue! When the blue color had dried, not long as it was MRP, but I waited until the day after, just in case! Then I masked for the Dielectric panels and the the engine covers… The green are painted with WEM Russian wheel hub green and the aluminium are Alclad paint. More to come soon! Phantom2
Thanks! I don´t know what happend, I did as I alwayas have done, but It did´nt work this time. Perhaps the forum update did something? The links are supposed to be direct links that open directly, but i´m not a computer wiz so I don´t know... Well, I have updated the post and links manually and added some pics I forgot... Sorry ´bout that, I blame the heat, we have 30+ here in Sweden right now! Yes, the canopy turned out far better then I expected, It fitted very nice and tight. The canopies are only tacked in place with a very tiny amount of Gator Glue. Cheers! Phantom2
Hi All! OK, the Green dielectric panels are masked and painted (WEM Soviet Wheel Hub Green), as is the rear steel section (Alclad steel). The front part of the fuselage are painted with US Light Gull Grey (MRP-98). When the paint had dried came the most exciting part of any build, removing all the masking! It took a while, lots of tape to remove, and here´s how it turned out... The red wheel wells really stand out... .. an almost soft transition between the colors, perfect! More to come soon! Phantom2
Hi all! Time for decals! The decals Trumpeter supplies are only so-so in quality…. ..so I acuired some Decals from Tiger Wings, a Taiwanes company; Main reason to getting these decals is that Trumpeter didn´t do the Chezh roundels correctly, they are actually handed for left and right! The blue segment are always forward, white up/out and red down/in, Trumpeter totally missed that and supplied six identical roundels! There´s more things that TW have corrected, but the new decals looks splendid, thin and very nicely printed. One thing Trumpeter did do well is the stencils as there´s a complete set, all readable and in both blue and red! First some cutting… As soon as TW´s decals hit the water they became extremley brittle and most even shattered in several small pieces! I manage to save the mouth and the eyes but I will take the rest from Trumpeter after all. Trumpeters decals worked perfectly as always. Both Trumpeter and TW missed the sieze of the bort number on the nose, that decal should have been a bit smaller! I got two sets of the Pilot on the fin, lucky me as he fell apart in many pieces, but I managed to puzzle him back again. The remaining decals are from Trumpeter, quite thick but they are well printed and work very well. The wing decals are like a jigsaw puzzle, many small pieces that follows the panel lines. The pieces are quite lage and fits well, and they were tough enough to be pushed around if necessary. I cut the long pieces on the slats in three pices, much easier to handle them. This is two full days work, luckily I´m retired now! Far from done, many stencils and other decals left! Do I need the stencils, how many and which on this scheme? More to come soon!
