HL-10
Special Hobby's 1/32nd scale North American X15 A2 Apart from a few scratch built additions in the cockpit, and a pilot figure from Shapeways (3D printed), it is an out of the box build. Various shades of black, dark greys, and metallic tones from various manufactures. Shapeways X-15 pilot. 3D printed. The version I ordered was the "basic quality" one & higher quality versions are available, for an increased cost. This one was rough, but workable. Head/face replaced with a Hornet Heads resin item. He needed some adjustments to get a better fit in the chair & cockpit. Thanks for looking, Angelo MikeMaben, CODY, Daywalker and 22 others 24

aircommando130
I always liked the X-15. Would watch it taxi out under the wing of the B-52 and takeoff with all the smoke. Would go out to the dry lake and watch it land with my dad when he was stationed at Edwards 1958-1964. Was an awesome time in aviation. Great job! Cheers...Ron HL-10

aircommando130
How did you do the heat burns on the XLR-99 engine? That looks awesome! I have 3 of those X-15 kits! Have 2 of the 48th ones...Want to do a landing scene on the dry lake. X-15 about to touch down with the F-104 chase plane gear down just about to the "go around" with the smoke bomb on the ground giving the wind direction. So cool for a young guy to witness back then! I just studied photos of the real exhaust and brush painted them. I tried to airbrush them but due to the shape of the exhaust I couldn't get it to look right. Thanks guys for all the compliments & comments, greatly appreciated!

Squizzy 78
I’ve found black planes are hard to get a realistic finish on, but you’ve nailed it! Awesome looking plane and it’s something different! HL-10
