Hi,

with the 262 nearly finished it´s time to think about a new project. It will be a crash landed Friedrich. Here are 2 photos of it:

Some first questions arise and I am interesed to hear your ideas :-)

  1. Antenna mast missing due to nthe impact or was it dismounted earlier?
  2. Are there 1/32 scale Wehrmacht figures or Luftwaffe pilots available?

Have a nice evening,

Bernd.

nice project Bernd,  the antenna mast was there initially!  really like your previous fallen eagles and this one will be superb for sure!  although I would love to see you back at your 1/12 Dora ;)  cheers

Hi Antonio,

thanks for the input! :)

first, cool scheme!

a couple of questions

1 are we sure this is not a F-4, and if we are, how do we know?

2 what kit will you be using?

Thanks!

Hi,

hmm, have to check the references for sub-type determination. It has the external re-inforcement strips at the tail unit... so that points to a F-2.

I have the Hasegawa F-4 kit and an "old" Aires resin set that actually looks quite nice!

not hard and fast, but I thought another 'tell' was if the quarter windows in cockpit will solid it generally indicated a F-4; on a F-2 these were still glass

It has small Air scops in the cowling, I think It is a G-2 early

which aircraft are we talking about?

the big  close up in colour posted by Antonio is not the same airframe - it's quite clearly Yellow 6, not Yellow 7

I believe ICM has a couple of pilot sets but I don't believe there are any 1/32 Wehrmacht unless you can find an old 21st Century Toys figure set--and as they are OOP they might be pricey.

W. Nr. 8086 is an Erla built Bf 109 F-2.

Tail re-enforcement strips were found on both F-2 and F-4s and is not indicative as to sub type.  Marseilles last assigned Bf 109 F-4 was delivered in the late summer of 1942 and had the re-enforcement strips.

sorry to ask a silly question, but how do we know the WNr of this aircraft?

Hi Nick, there's a record of the crash plus the photos.

The glass quarter was only on the port side for F-2/4.

Both sides were glass on the F-4Z.

I would bet those 2 photos are of the same a/c. First, the camo under

the cockpit matches as well as the snow drift at the wing root.

Betcha ;)

Yes, both pictures show the same a/c. I think the pictures show the a/c a few days after its crash. In the meanwhile more snow has fallen. Check out the areas underneath the wings which show considerably less snow.
