However it doesn't quite resolve the question on the shape of the back rest of the pilot seat... Kagemusha
I've drawn a blank aside from the image in this Aeroclub model, I've no doubt John Adams would have done meticulous research, he is also a member here, so you could send him a pm... Though this looks like the pilot seat, I found it earlier, but thought is was a passenger seat... kkarlsen

I'm also pretty sure the backrest of the pilot seat would have a similar shape, but I cannot be sure before I find a photo. The bottom of the seat looks to be just a wooden box with the frame for the backrest fitted... Kent
Kagemusha
That what I thought, but if you look at the 360 from Madrid, you can see the tubular frame, also the passenger seats all had arm rests.
thierry laurent
Hi Kent, This is the only original picture I've found: Alas, this just shows the upper rear side of the seat.

thierry laurent
Have a look at that cutaway: https://alchetron.com/De-Havilland-Dragon-Rapide#de-havilland-dragon-rapide-f35c485d-faa3-4f1b-96d0-42f8c5c80e8-resize-750.jpeg It shows a seat added on the box. thierry laurent
Hi Kent, You're quite lucky as I got yesterday a second Air Britain book about the Dragon Rapide. Alas, I got it for close to double the normal price because it is OOP for ages and looks brand new! However, I do not regret it as here's what I found: Hope this helps! Thumbs up to both of you! (Kagemusha & Thierry) The seat in the second photo is probably a later alteration (wartime 40'ish)? So this is how far I've gotten with my 'interpretation' of the cockpit. thierry laurent
If you look closely you will see that if the tubular structures are similar, they are not identical: there are two long vertical bars in my picture whereas the one of the spare seat has one main vertical one in the centre and two small ones close to the edge of each side. However, as far as the cushions are added and the seat back is put against the bulkhead such differences are obviously not visible anymore. I think the only visible difference is probably the fact the top of the pilot seat was less pointy. The black & white picture is indeed showing the prototype built for the RAF for maritime patrol. The type never reached production as the Air ministry choose the Avro Anson. Hth Thierry kkarlsen
