Wackyracer
Inspired by Thunnus amazing 109G-6/AS build earlier this year I've taken a deep breath and started my first advanced conversion build. First cuts and all fits spot on. Reaver prop to go with the conversion = perfect match! Added the Aries radio set for the open hatch at the rear. Designed for the Hasegawa kit it fitted without issue. Cut out the hatch and replaced with the pe. Thinned the inside Aries pit next and a drop in fit. Like Thunnus removed the front bottom pour for the wing strut. Larger oil cooler from Barracuda tested, no problems! Quick dry fit of everything I'd done today. D.B. Andrus
Wonderful project! All the bells and whistles, I like it. Note on the oil cooler - Barracuda is sort of a mish-mash between WNF/MTT and Erla. The cooler on your G-6AS is the same as the WNF/MTT G-10/G-14AS: Thought since you're putting so much effort into your build you might want this tidbit. I look forward to your progress. Wackyracer
More updates ... Test fit for the canopy. All good. Tail rudder sanded down to represent metal version Assembled the top wing sections to ensure a good join Used the kit exhausts and scratched the 2 dampers from plasticard. Couldn't see any value in using resin exhausts here as you cant see them. Aaron Landrotten Highlander, Gazzas, Lothar and 1 other

D.B. Andrus
In reality, there needs to be an extension in height on both the front and rear of the oil cooler housing. This was done to give it additional depth to the housing for fitting a larger oil cooler: Fo 987 replacing the Fo 870. Here a few shots from the Aero Detail book on the 109G: Adding a vertical extension to the Quickboost G-6 cooler should do the job. Its maybe 1/2mm higher than the kit one. I originally found and tried the revell erla part but that's to slab sided by all accounts so purchased the Barracuda and quick boost ones. When I put them against the g-6 ones their both higher. It's probably just the camera angle that makes it look lower.
