Tony T
Thanks — a great piece. News to me that Paveway II was the GBU-8 Hobos EOGB programme (and Paveway III an envisaged IRGB), but I'm guessing that was 1967-68 vintage programme titles. As we know, Paveway II became the 1970s second generation LGB series using pop-out fins for greater glide range while still using "bang bang" guidance (while Paveway III became the 1980s third generation LGB series using even bigger pop-out fins and proportional guidance permitting stand-off "mini toss" low level deliveries by, inter alia, Pave Tack F-111C/Fs). The follow-on piece on RC-135 Elint is utterly absorbing — many thanks again. Tony
Finn
More info about other historical USAF aviation can be found in previous issues: https://www.afhistory.org/air-power-history/2019-air-power-history-archive/ 2020 issue is not up as a pdf yet but the others are.
