That's awesome! Love the faded fabric on the wings and tail and overall South Pacific wear and tear! That engine looks ready to crank!

I met Pappy at the Reno Air Races in the late 70's. Got an autographed picture of his Corsair...still have it framed on the wall!

Great job!

Cheers...Ron

Fantastic weathering , exactly the way I would imagine this plane to look like, very tasteful as well. Hats off to your skills Sir.

Oh my word, that is stunning!

One of (if not the best) paintjobs I have seen on a Corsair...amazing!  I cant stop looking at it.  I hope my RNZAF Corsair comes out half as good as this!

Just beautiful, thanks for sharing this with us

Cheers Anthony

Thanks very much Martin, Damian, and Anthony! I really wanted to get that weatherbeaten look the land-based Corsairs in the South Pacific had. It was a bit of a leap of faith with my weathering skills but I'm happy with how it turned out!

Wow.  What an awesome looking Corsair.  I had the good fortune to meet Boyington in my early 20’s at Oshkosh.

Those copper wires are killer!

Thanks for sharing.

Sincerely,

Mark

Thanks Mark, appreciate it! The copper wire conveniently matched the colour of the ignition wire conduits on the reference I was working from. Just needed to flat coat them afterwards (although still a bit shiny under the photographic light). The small drainage pipe from the crank case to the sump was a PITA!
