James Rademaker
I’m a new member and I’d like to ask for some painting advice on creating wing ID bands. My questions is regarding the raised line that is created when spraying the band color. How do you remove that raised line with out marring the original paint color. Do you sand it, and if so, what grit works best? Thanks, Jim
thierry laurent
You have that raised ridge if you spray towards the mask edge. If you spray in the opposite direction or right in the center of the colored stripe, you are minimizing that issue noticeably. If you still have one to remove, use very fine micromesh to sand it cautiously. Lothar

Woody V
Clear coat and sand with fine micro mesh. Old technique used on custom car paint jobs. Lothar and BiggTim

Exactly what I usually do. Since I use enamels paints, I actually WET sand it with 1200 or 1500 grit, then clearcoat again. Cheetah11
Hi Jim Try and use paint that covers well, then the ridge might not need sanding. For white I actually use Tamiya white primer which is dense after a light coat. Nick
