Chris_B-1B
I'm hoping to see if anyone knows whether the landing gear struts and gear bays of the Spitfire changed much between marks. I want to graft Eduard's resin gear bays and bronze gear struts for the Revell Mk IX into the Revell Mk II I'm building. Eduard does make some PE for the Mk II gear bays, but I'd rather use the resin insert and bronze gear. Thanks, Chris
thierry laurent
There were many small changes but they are not really noticeable and I can testify they were less important than the differences you generally see between the ones in the kits and the actual ones! So, as Jennings mentioned, as far as you are removing the oleo scissors and of course using the correct doors and rims, you are ok. I compared the ones from Mk. I, II, V, IX and 24 plus the Seafire 47 ones and can confirm you will not distinguish the leg differences as the main shapes stayed similar. Chek
For modelling purposes the struts themselves remain the same. I illustrated the main gear changes in a post here a while ago.
