CZPetrP
Yes, this is not a simple building. But you can see that you're doing well. Good Job. Petr MikeC and Seversky

scvrobeson
Coming together very nicely, and quite quickly! The riveting is a nice little touch to set it apart. Matt Seversky
Padubon
Hello, I was born in Guatemala and as a young boy a remember going to a national fair in the capital city. The FAG had a display with a Huey and the camouflaged T-33. I clearly remember the two machine guns because I could not believe the size of the .50cal rounds. As far as I know, the cockpit to canopy on the FAG T-33s coupling section was grey with over painted black, not red. This are the pics I will use as a reference when I build my own “Quetzal T-33”. I hope the pics are of some help. Seversky, MikeC, Kagemusha and 4 others
Seversky
Thank you very much for the information, colleague! Unfortunately, I can not correct the color of the edge of the cockpit. ((( Maybe "metalic" AT-33 were different than camouflage birds? In particular, I think that some metalic AT-33 had their machine guns removed. This is confirmed by some photos and this video. spyrosjzmichos
Lovely start! The cockpit is looking nice and the riveting certainly adds more interest on the airframe. Seversky

I would not change the red color either, since I am not 100 percent sure. The FAG had five -33s, the first ones were supplied from the US government as a result of Guatemala allowing the Free Cuban A-26 to be based there during the Bay of Pigs incident and the possible threat of Cuban reprisals. Only one was camouflaged (the one I saw at the fair). It is said that purpose of the single camouflaged plane was to make attacks somewhere in Nicaragua helping the contras, but I really don’t think so, since we had a nasty civil war of our own. The -33 were used in COIN missions and were armed with the .50s and bomb racks. A friend told me once that also rockets were installed on the -33s but I do not think is true. The guns were removed eventually for the Quetzales aerobatic team and to become jet trainers for the future arrival of the A-37s in the early 70s. When I build mine, I will install the .50s and bomb racks and after seeing your fantastic work, I’ll paint the red band in the cockpit, accurate or not, it just looks great!
