fishermanivan
As it turns out, the grey primer is exactly the shade of grey I want.... Would throwing a gloss coat over it after sanding it really smooth be decent for decals? And then the usual gloss to seal them in and decals. BiggTim
I would say yes. I almost did that on my P-40 for the same reason.

Wet sand it with very fine grit paper before you apply the gloss. Otherwise you'll have high spots of primer poking through the clear.
dennismcc
Normally I uses Xtracolor or Colourcoats so do not have a problem with decals, but in the past when I have been forced to use matt paint to get the right colour I used a nail buffer to polish the paint surface where the decals were going, worked OK.
