SYLDAVIAN P.11C. The final cut!

While waiting for the paints I ordered to arrive in the mail it's time to deal with small details.

The gun troughs are rarely convincing on models. The IBG kit is no exception.

Before:

Extension with milliput:

Final result:

The jettisonable fuel tank is another interesting feature in the PZL. IBG did a credible job in representing the tank but didn't provide the way to affix it.

This is how I did it.

The tank OOB:

I put a small roll of milliput around the lower part of the tank:

Then delicately lower the fuselage opening on the fresh milliput. Make sure the fuselage is level with the tank. Leave overnight and voilà.

I also spiced up the stock radio transmitter with a bit of wire and tin foil.

Unfortunately much cannot be seen once in situ. Ah well!

Next step: the power egg.

See ya then

Signing off,

Very nice radio. Cushion was not present in  P.11,  only in museum display unit.  Pilot was sitting on his  parachute.

Thank you for your info.:speak_cool:

But unlike your references, the pilot of my P.11 wears a back parachute with a Sutton harness and is not Polish. :ninja:

Cheers,

Quang

Compared to the cockpit interior, the engine is a non-event. Lots of parts, the majority of them lost in oblivion once the cowling is installed. Be aware though that each part has a tiny female notch which corresponds to its male counterpart. The localizing notches and tabs are short of microscopic but they're there.

Each part was painted and detailed before assembly. I used mostly Tamiya acrylic semi-gloss black and touches of Vallejo bronze and steel.

Now that the engine is done, let's turn our attention the the only let-down of this remarkable model kit: the propeller.

The innocuous separate prop blades may look OK in the box... until you glue them to the spinner :BANGHEAD2:

The stock blades look like twisted flat sheets of soft metal instead of the sensuous wooden sculptures they should be.

I buffed up the flat blades with white Milliput

B3-DBD000-0-D4-D-4-BB0-B3-BE-1-F28333664

I shaped the hardened milliput with files and sanding sticks and also corrected the blade outline.

And voilà!

From now, it's all downhill. I won't bother you with closing the fuselage, assembling the wing and the tail.

Next time, we'll go to the heart of the matter: the paint scheme :coolio:

Until then, keep modeling
