As I've been unpacking models lately, I got to thinking about posting on this topic, and sure enough Mike had beat me to the punch. I thought I would share these...

As a kid in S. Florida in 1969, I remember seeing ads for that kit.  Didn't it retail for around $10?

I think it was $15. I remember seeing it at a Montgomery Wards store in Spokane and asking for it for Christmas. I was told it was too expensive (and it was). Then a package about the right size showed up under the tree, and I was really excited until the folks told me it was a tea set for the girl next door. Finally, Christmas morning came, and sure enough it was no tea set! My brothers had pitched in to buy it for me. The model hung on my bedroom ceiling for a couple of years. I purchased the kit you see in the picture about 20 years ago (for a lot more than the original price, but worth it for the great memories it brings back me).

I think my oldest is a bagged kit of the old Aurora C-141  Yea, still going to build it one day.  Behind that might be the Testors C-5.  I already built the Otaki boxing of it years back when I got back into building models.
