Rob Colvin
I know it has issues.....My question is does the Revell He-219 "need" the brass gear? I know the kit requires a lot of nose weight? Do the brass gear fit? Thanks Rob
chrish
Hi Rob Ive got two of them built, they do require a lot of weight (I used automotive “stick-on” wheel balancing weights in mine) but the plastic gear is holding up quite well (years now) accuracy wise I can’t speak for them but strength wise I’m happy with them
Iain
The kit supplied undercarriage has stood up well on mine - I had one breakage of the lower end of one of the main legs, but that was my hamfistedness, rather than any weakness whilst standing... BaldEagle
Built one of these last year. It needs a LOT of weight. Basically where ever you can fit it. I put as many 2p coins as I could fit into the nacelles and behind the cockpit. I also pushed some solder into the hole in the nose, plus brass rod in the hollow nose wheel strut. Finally I put some fishing weights in the spinner caps. That was just enough! The kit supplied gear is adequate for the job though. Jjust be careful not to break the fragile part at bottom of the strut. MikeMaben
