LSP_Kevin
Super work, Iain! Reminds me of some aborted Hurricane projects of my own. Kev Iain
Iain
After drilling out all the cowl fasteners, and replacing some missing ones, the windshield frame was sprayed interior Grey-Green from outside and allowed to dry, before a couple of thin coats of Halfords grey primer (rattle can made for the automotive market). Always a nerve wracking moment when you're not sure what it will show up that needs fixing, especially on a fairly crude set of mouldings and a fair amount of modification. Happy with outcome so far - a few tweaks and we can paint her up... Have fun! Iain
In further adventures of 'How Slowly Can Iain Build A Model': most of the airframe looks surprisingly good under the primer - but I wasn't happy with the already thinned trailing edges of the wing - so it's out with files, sanding sticks and wet and dry paper to rectify/improve: Blue Skies! fastterry
One thing that makes models look like models is thick trailing edges. It's definitely worth the extra effort to make them as thin as possible and that goes for prop blades as well (the thinning I mean). TRF

monthebiff
Very nice progress Iain, not an easy build but very rewarding and one of my favourite kits I've built. I have the rag wing to build as well at some point. Regards. Andy

Iain
Finally got some real paint on the Hurricane - the underside Sky. Has had a night on top of the boiler in the airing cupboard - so should be ready for some masking and Dark Earth later today... Tally Ho! Iain
Just realised I haven't updated this thread in ages. On 12/22/2020 at 9:05 PM, Pete Roberts said: Excellent! If you are doing YB-E, you'll need to crop those props! Affirm Pete - props cropped! Top camouflage is now on - and roundels added. Drawing up masks for the squadron codes now. Looks like a B of B Hurricane now, will try and get some update images on here later today... These kits are a good likeness overall to the Hurricane - they just take quite a lot of work to get there!
