This is not meant to be a criticism, but one of the other pearls of info searched out by Edgar was that all Spits up to and including the MkVIII (which also include the PRXI) were painted with  aluminium lacquer in the rear fuselage right up to the rear of the frame directly behind the pilot. Grey green seems to have been used in the later high back Griffon engined spits from what I can gather. This is just a note for future reference for all the Spitfire builders out there.

Found it!

Always love a VC & you’re doing excellent work. A question on the 44 gallon tanks after looking at your reference pic - are they the right way around in your rendition? The ground clearance indicates a taper at the rear of the tanks.

Yes I've been humming and harring which way they should go and their only test fitted at the moment. The filler port is definitely at the pointy end so unsure?
