Hey Sid     :hi:

Thanks Mike, glad to be here. Really inspired by the work I've seen on the website/forums, some really talented people out there. I've been out of the game for a while (three decades LOL) so easing myself back in slowly.

Indeed, we have some of the best, most talented and friendliest builders on the planet. Really does humble me!

Painting on the 109 underway, again, the Kitsworld decals shows fairly heavy mottling going right down to the bottom of the fuselage sides. While paintings (never trust an artists rendition) show little... or even no mottling on the aircraft sides. There's also paintings of the aircraft with II Gruppe straight line instead of a III Gruppe wavy line, but I have 1or 2 pics. here of the aircraft with the wavy line so, that's what I'll use.

I ran out of a key Tamiya color to home mix the RLM 75 so used some recent acquisition paints that were as yet untried, Mission Models, they seem to work ok.

My query: does the mottling look to heavy?

paint came up with the tape off the resin exhaust pipes, my fault. not the paint. I forgot to clean and prime the resin

Thanks for looking

That looks just excellent to my eye, Chris. I only wish that I could paint that well. And the figures do indeed look better than what I'd previously thought. I may need to try a couple now.

Thanks all!

I doubt I'd have had the stamina to keep going without the encouragement from friends here, very appreciated!

I've got the seams dealt with on the fuselage and begun the agreeable task of adding the final details, glazings and decals to the fuselage...wait for it, there's light at the end of this tunnel...clearly visible now!

The dark and light variations should blend in with a buff down with a terry cloth (the rest of the fuselage has had done) and the final clear coats.

Thanks a lot!

weathering with oils has begun, I wanted the blown engine to be an oily mess so mixtures of browns and black were smeared rearward from where the engine will eventually be.

I've also finally painted and installed the super chargers and main gear.

More painting and blending will be done later with the airbrush and acrylics.

Chris - are you going to soften the edges of your oil streak?
The inboard looks a little sharp - at least to my eye ;)

Keep up the good work!
