Out2gtcha
Thanks all! This finally feels like Im coming out of the worst of it. A coat of Tamiya dark grey panel liner on the newly painted sections, then let that dry, and on to some filters and chipping. Then tonight I will forge on with the upper matt coat, and hopefully that will blend things in well enough that when the masking is removed I don't have TOO much work left to do. Cheers! Thunnus
Good show Brian! From the looks of it, it looks like a very successful recovery! Now comes the exciting part... mask removal part two! Troy Molitor and Out2gtcha
monthebiff
Awesome work on this one Brian and what a fantastic save when you are so close to the finish line, makes me want to go and grab mine from the SOD. Out2gtcha
Thanks guys! The repair work is fully complete now. Washes, filters, clear ect, all added and I did my best to blend things together. Fortunately THIS time around on the clear parts reveal, things went much more to my satisfaction. The clear parts only needing a few swipes with a cotton bud and some mineral spirits to get rid of excess wash, then a quick polish up with NOVA polish and some NOVA cleaning agent. Back in a min with pics...............
Out2gtcha
Not too shabby if I do say so myself Wing tip lights and belly light added: Tail wheel and tail light added successfully: Overall, Im very pleased with how its coming out, and the fix seemed to not do much to dampen my spirits on it overall after I got over the shock of it happening in the 11th hour. Now there is just a VERY short list of things to do to finish the entire model: - Antenna - Install rear gun (already made and painted just no pics) - Install nose guns - Install oblique canon - Install pitot tube That's it! Ill be working on the antenna tonight, as Ive got part of it finished but need to finish the rest up tonight and I can install the guns and pitot tube and Im finished. The next time you see here, she'll be done! Cheers all! Landrotten Highlander, Brett M, zaxos345 and 16 others
