BiggTim
Nice job! The gun bay looks way better than what is supplied with the kit. What did you do to make it look so much better?
LSP_Ray
Very nice! And you managed opening up the engine compartment, too! No mean feat. BiggTim
TimHepplestone
Lovely job. How was the kit? I picked one up second hand and it’s on my to do list. BiggTim
Grizly
For Bigg Tim, I did a little scratch building based on some research. See below. For Tim Hepplestone, It's a good kit but previous modellers have expressed frustration getting a good lower wing to nacelle joint and have invariably resorted to filling the joints with lots of putty. I found that key to completing the wing to nacelle/tail boom assembly was joining the lower wing half to the nacelles first rather than following the kit instructions. With this method you end up with a perfect seam/panel line joint that requires absolutely no filler. Its a but joint so I reinforced the inside with plastic strip. See below. chuck540z3
Great job on a very difficult kit! Cheers, Chuck BiggTim
BiggTim
Very cool! I did the same on my P-38 gun bays, which is still in progress. I'll PM you some photos of it, would love to hear what you think. Tim Edited October 28, 2019 by BiggTim

pacificmustang
Excellent build.I had intended opening one of the cowlings on mine too, so glad to see it can indeed be done . I bet it looks impressive in 32 scale Regards Bruce BiggTim

dennismcc
I've never built a P-38, started a Revell one once and gave up, but your build has made me think again, especially with Telford coming up. Cheers Denns BiggTim
Grizly
For Dennismcc and Tim Hepplestone, further clarification should you be interested in adopting by build sequence... the following photo shows my first step in pulling the basic assembly together. In the photo you have (from left to right) the underside assemblies for the starboard outer, port outer and center section wing/tail boom components. As you can see, this approach provides perfect wing/tail boom joints. Kagemusha
