What´s your favorite aluminum chipping paint?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I want to do some alu chipping by brush. I have enemals from Revell and Humbrol but I am not happy with them.

What paint are you using for alu chipping by brush?

TIA,

Bernd.

I use the old Testors's chrome silver enamel  in the little square bottle if I'm doing it by hand.  Otherwise it's an Alclad II base followed by color coats and masking tape (or AK/Ammo) chipping fluid between the Alclad and color coats; then chipped per instructions on the bottle.

I also use a silver Prismacolor pencil for more delicate chipping.

I know you already made your decision but Windsor and Newton silver ink is another good choice.

It's thin and brushes perfectly right out of the bottle.

Hi,

that sounds very interesting. I´ll give it a try!

Have a nice sunday,

Bernd.

Hi,

I ordered the silver ink and also the white ink from Winsor & Newton: the silver ink is great for chipping by brush and spongue. I add a drop of acrylic silver paint to make it water proof. The white ink is great, too and water proof from the bottle.

So thanks for your hint! :-)
