GSNeil
Hey all - For an RAF P-40 in the desert, I know it's D Earth, M Stone, A Blue - but what color would the interior cockpit be? Green Zinc or the British interior color? And how about the wheel wells, also Azure Blue? Thanks in advance...
GSNeil
2 hours ago, Jennings Heilig said: Interior green. AFAIK no US manufacturer used anything like RAF IGG. Thanks Jennings - one reference I had said something about "Curtiss Cockpit Green". I had never heard of that before...
LSP_Ray
I think Curtiss Cockpit Green is just their paint mixture. The interior green was a prescribed mixture(early on typically zinc chromate yellow with black tint added) so invariably each manufacturer's color was a little different, I bet even between batches. I think that Dull Dark Green was the same way. This is why I don't worry too much about interior colors. If it looks close to you it should be fine. RBrown
Curtiss employed Du Pont equivalent colors for British contracts. Du Pont No. 71-036 Cockpit Light Green was used on some P-40 production built to British contracts. The relic below is a P-40 control stick in what appears to be 71-036... D.B. Andrus, TAG, D Bellis and 3 others 5
GSNeil
Thanks all for the feedback - I've been trying out the Mission paint line recently. Their version of Zinc C actually looks a lot like that DuPont CLG.... I'll go with that...
KUROK
On YouTube you can find “Ways of the Warhawk” a wartime training film. The interior of that P-40F looks bronze green to me.
