Tamiya 1/32 F4U-1 Birdcage Corsair - Done!

Hi Brett, I like the Alclad flat.  I spray two, and sometimes three, light coats for a dead flat finish.  One light coat gives a nice eggshell type semi-gloss.

Thanks Ernest, I might have to give that a try. Almost grabbed a bottle of it at the LHS on Monday...oops

Salt weathering done......and hard to see in pictures, of course. But, at least in person, it helped tone things down. The insignia's definitely look better (first picture, super dark for some reason on it, much lighter in person???).

Definitely looking for opinions here. The main panel lines on the fuselage, I shaded them with smoke and I'm not sure if I went too nuts/dark. Thoughts on how they look? Should I back them down a few steps so they don't stand out as much? Let me know what you think!

Overall progress.....

Hi Brett,

I should have read your question more closely - yes, Light Gray is more likely for Corsairs wearing your camouflage scheme.  Keep up the good work!

Cheers,

Dana

Thanks Dana, I sprayed them earlier, so making progress.

The surface is amazing:clap2:

Thanks Petr!

Just wanted to share.....windscreen masking is off and no issues with paint leaking. I'm always worried about that occurring! Lost a bit of blue on the rear windows where the canopy will sit, but easy to fix.

Nice to see the cockpit stayed together with all the handling these past months.

Been a bit, with the crazy world going on and some earth shaking in the Salt Lake area! But, progress is moving ahead. Landing gear attached, wheels and tires done, landing gear doors. Canopy painted and close to where I want it. Small touch ups here and there and then the radio rigging/antenna to be done.

Let me know what you think so far!
