1/32 OV-10D Bronco by Kitty Hawk

Small update with the undercarriage area.

I spent some time preparing and assembling all parts and added details from lead wire.

The undercarriage bays were riddled with injection pin marks and took some time to clean these up.

In the end I decided to order the metal undercarriage but still went ahead with the plastic parts as temporary solution.

The resin wheels do look much better than the kit provided ones though.

Hi all!

With the undercarriage and wheel wells done I now started work on the tail booms.

The construction is a bit tricky due to multiple parts requiring careful alignment before committing to glue.

KH sure did design the kit for both engines to be left exposed.

The fit of the engine covers was just atrocious and more clean up is required...

I do love the vibrant colors you’ve brought to life here! Would keeping the engine unattached to “float” until you’ve assembled the cowling pieces around it have helped?

Cheers,  Tom

Thank you Tom!

Honestly, I just didn't think about leaving the engine off till the end.

Moment of silliness I guess...

Hi all!

We're on the final stretch now with all major assemblies complete and cleaned up.

I made sure to install two plastic beams across the central fuselage to provide support for the outer wing sections and tail booms.

A bit more clean up is required and then I should be able to start painting the Bronco!

I love those last two photos in particular. She is taking shape! How’s the fit so far?

Cheers,  Tom

Thanks Tom!

The overall fit is actually much better than I expected. The only area I had difficulty with was the engine covers. Kittyhawk clearly designed both engines to be displayed. It need quite a bit of filling, sanding and rescribing. And the curves make this job challenging.
