Do lot's of variants of subjects increase or decrease sales overall, e.g the Do-335 in this particular discussion? If you had just one choice with a couple of variant selections included within it, would it be the best choice for a manufacturer to save on decal and packaging costs and advertising overall, thus making it more probable to decrease retail prices? Yes, maximise the potential to recover the tooling costs but it could be a disincentive to purchase on first release if it's not your favourite? It would be interesting to find out! I don’t think all versions in one box would be better for a number of reasons. For the Do-335, the boxes would have to be heavier and possible larger, since you’d have to include all of the sprues, especially separate sprues for both the single seater and twin seater. Also, individual boxings would have more decal options, unless you make a giant decal sheet to provide as many options as four individual boxing’s (not so much of a problem for the Do-335, but more so for other aircraft). Also, more unused parts, which seems wasteful. Finally, some people buy the first release even if it’s not their favorite version to get a look at the kit, and then later on get their favorite boxing, so you might have fewer sales if everything was in one box. Multiple boxings with the Phantom pleeze, so that the first comes out quicker. Still haven't heard what the non-LSP September release is. 32scalelover
Just announced!!!!!!!! For anyone who is sick of the raised panel lines from the Revell and Monogram B-17, this is for you. http://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=33418&mode=thread&order=0 It looks like they just shrank the 1/32. Hopefully they will do the E/F also. Edited September 23, 2019 by 32scalelover
LSP_Mike
For most twins, a single box variant makes the most sense.

No, they didn't - they actually corrected most of the errors found on the 1/32 kit, so it's technically a more accurate kit than its larger predecessor.
