AD-5 Skyraider

I’m lucky enough to have a Fisher conversion on its way to me. This conversion seems to be a 2 seater with with standard seats or the drag you out variety. I was wondering what this versions role was? It seems pretty similar to the USAF A-1E. I’m just wondering what options I might have with this conversion as there don’t seem to be any A/m decal options.

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Simon

There are other people on the forum far more expert than me, but having built 2 of these conversions , I think I know my round them ,

The USN AD-5 seems to have been a jack of all traded, COD, Drone controller, ASW/AEW you name it , the bigger fuselage mean it could be used as a conventional attack aircraft , or it could be configured for a myriad of specialised roles. but I think the AD-5 base model is a basic flying truck

For the record I've just finished the Guppy, AD-5W, and last year I did the USAF A-1E, and if Fisher were still around, I'd be building more of them!

Well Photobucket being what it is , (A total clusterflop)  most of my  model pics are still in there and inaccessible , I think, However  there's a model show here in Aberdeen on Saturday , and my Guppy is going to be in the centre of a flight deck dio that's almost complete, so look for pics of that early next week ,

for the record the Guppy kit is a seriously fun build, especially when it comes to detailing up the rear compartment , and sticking that huge radome in place,  I did mine in GSB , because I refer shiny finishes!

Watch this space!

PS Looks like PhotoBucket has stopped its hissy fit for the time being..

Thanks Colin, that A-1E certainly looks the part. I'm assuming the rear glazing was always blue tinted to give the back seaters a 'gloomy' environment in which to look at radar screens?

I'm sure I've seen pictures of AD-5's with a wingfull of stores pylons although I'm not sure if Paul's kit includes any? I'll find out soon enough!

Photobucket returned access to photos some time ago. Some of them have ads I think.

You know, this Photobucket thing, I really can't be bothered anymore! I found it hard work to upload photos because my PC was old and slow and I would lose an evenings modelling in the process so I don't care any more! I love to see other peoples work though!
